About this work
Jonathan Fortun of the IIF told El Economista that Mexico keeps only 30 cents of every dollar of electronics exported, against nearly 50 cents for autos, and that Mexico supplies about 40% of US server imports. He tied the low domestic share to the heavy use of imported components in products Mexico assembles for the US. He argued the challenge is moving from assembly to building a supply chain that raises local value added.
